Forgiveness of all who have offended us is vital for us to stay in peace out of the prison of bitterness. The Lord Jesus told us to forgive quickly, and pray blessings upon our offenders if we want His forgiveness. There is a built in opportunity to forgive, bless your "enemies" and stay out of bitter prison when every morning you pray and get to the part, "FORGIVE US OUR TRESPASSES, AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO TRESPASS AGAINST US". We forgive so that we can be free, forgiven, enjoying peace with God.
