Genesis 28:13,15


“I’m not worthy for God to bless me” is a common response. You are correct. You and I are not deserving. In this passage, Jacob had just fled after deceiving his father and brother, and will deceive his uncle, and yet God speaks these beautiful words to him. Jacob is an example of God’s “hesed” love, His lifelong commitment of lovingkindness to us that is undeserved. You and I were not worthy of what He has already done and will never be worthy of what He will yet do.
